Dicentra formosa, commonly known as Pacific Bleeding Heart, is a West Coast native ground cover that brightens the garden with delicate, heart-shaped pink flowers and textural, finely divided leaves. These showy flowers bloom in spring and early summer, adding a stunning accent to any garden. Will go dormant by mid-summer if soil is allowed to fully dry out or it is planted in a hot sunny location. Will often return briefly in the fall with rain and cooler weather before winter dormancy.
